Sony A7R V Focus Bracketing Example @ 12mm: Failure to Reach INF so Badly Blurred, (“Chocolate Brown Alpine Creek”)
re: focus stacking
re: botched design
This focus stacking example looks at how the Sony A7R V focus bracketing feature fails to reach infinity focus (INF), thus requiring the photographer to manually focus and shoot a frame focused at INF, so that sharpness of the stacked image is excellent, instead of the badly blurred failure that the A7R V would have delivered.

Includes images up to full camera resolution, plus crops.
UPDATE: at least with my Sony FE 12-24/2.8 GM, the Sony A7R V is a TOTAL FAILURE at 12/14/16/18/21/24mm, never getting to INF focus.
Botched design. Having to deal with this error does not make the feature useless, but it guarantees more effort (user has to manually shoot an INF frame), and raises the odds of a focus stacking failure. Will Sony fix the multiple problems with focus bracketing anytime soon? Dunno.
