This industrial shot I took for my own purposes: it shows how the 48.5 gallon fuel tank (stock tank is 26.4 gallons) is installed and fits under the Sprinter. It also shows the 17" wheels with robust BF Goodrich K02 triple-ply-sidewall offroad tires.
Wide open at f/4, there is no perfect solution with tilt for a 3D subject. Nevertheless, the 2° tilt used here cuts through the front wheel then through the front bolt of the tank, then to the rear tire. That’s about as good as one can hope for. In this case, stopping down is needed to get the desired items sharp, but without tilt it would be difficult and would render a too-sharp background.
As with other subjects, I wanted a natural perspective—no tilting the camera—I was downhill of the Sprinter so that the full 12mm of rise (upward shift) was required in addition to the 2° of tilt.
