Zeiss Milvus 135mm f/2 Aperture Series: White Aspen (Nikon D810)

See my Nikon wish list and get Nikon D850 at B&H Photo.

The series gives an idea of medium distance rendering style from f/2 through f/8 under blue mountain canyon morning light.

This image at f/8 was used in my Zeiss Lenspire article Zoom Lens or Prime? 135mm.

Often with “3D” subjects like this, there is an interplay between sharpness and depth of field , and careful choice of focus position is critical. I chose focus to balance the 'cut' of sharpness through the grove, which is quite deep near to far for this distance with a 135mm.

Includes images up to full camera resolution.

I look forward to seeing what the Nikon D850 can deliver for shots like this—only a week away!
