The folks over at Capture Integration were kind enough to send me a loaner Cambo Actus Mini View Camera. While my schedule went wonky and did not allow much shooting with it (still planned, for macro work, but I’ve had to put it off), I was able to work all the knobs and movements and so on, and shoot some frames.
From my firsthand look I can say decisively that the Cambo Actus Mini View Camera is a first-class piece of gear. Fit and finish are superb and everything is very well thought out. Lenses of all sorts can be mounted and the back takes Sony or Nikon or Canon or other bodies (DLSR bodies with DSLR lenses are for close focus only).
The macro photographer, the architectural photographer and other specialists should find that the Cambo Actus Mini View Camera solves challenges nothing else can. It’s just a matter of choosing lenses to fit the project.
Steve Hendrix of Capture Integration has several blog posts on the Cambo Actus Mini View camera. And see Michael Erlewine’s comments and video in my May 19 blog post.
