Sigma DP1 Merrill — Aperture Series and Color and Monochrome

Sigma DP1 Merrill

In my Guide to Mirrorless / ALLVIEW, I’ve added a full Sigma DP1 Merrill aperture series from f/2.8 - f/16 assessing imaging performance across the range.

Monochrome

Also included is a color versus black and white rendition at 50% of original size as well as a very large actual pixels crop.

I’ll reiterate my earlier suggestion: anyone looking for a low cost camera that produces first rate monochrome images will find the Sigma DP1 Merrill attractive at 1/8 the cost of the Leica M Monochrom. There are ergonomic concerns, it can’t take any lens but the built-in one, etc, but dang... well see my review.

And consider this— the Sigma DP1 Merrill has autofocus, and for anyone with vision issues, the Leica M9 or MM are non-starters.

Sigma DP1 Merrill handheld at 1/40 sec @ f/2.8 , actual pixels
