Fuji X-Pro1 — Coming Soon
B&H Photo has the 16-megapixel Fujfifilm X-Pro1 and the Fuji 18mm f/2, 35mm f/1.4 and 60mm f/2.4 lenses available for pre-order.
I should have the Fuji X-Pro1 along with all three of its lenses just as soon as it starts shipping from B& Photo.
The Fujifilm X-Pro1 is an intriguing 16.2-megapixel ALLVIEW camera with an APS-C “X-Trans CMOS” sensor design without an anti-aliasing (blur) filter.
Which means that the full optical performance of Leica M and Zeiss ZM 'glass' should deliver stunning results, assuming that there are not ray angle issues involved as with the Sony NEX-7. This is accomplished via a lens adapter.
The X-Pro1 sensor design uses a random pixel layout that is claimed to nearly eliminate moiré. Which makes me wonder how the Fuji X-Pro1 RAW files will render in Adobe Camera RAW, given the results with the X-10 compact which uses a funky sensor which results in ugly RAW conversion results (X-10 sensor is absolutely not the same design as the X-Pro1, but it does make one wonder about different sensor designs with ACR conversions).

Value
A Leica M9 body (without a lens) is $6995.
A Fuji X-Pro1 is smaller, lighter and about the same resolution. Including the Fuji 18mm f/2.0, 35mm f/1.4 and 60mm f/2.4, it is about about $3550 for body and those three lenses. Which is about the price of one (1) mid-priced Leica M lens (if you can find one to buy). And of course the fastest 18mm Leica M lens is f/3.8, which is almost two stops slower than the Fuji 18mm f/2.0.
