Sony NEX-7 More Leica than Leica? Continued.
A few days ago I posited the question of whether the Sony NEX-7 is more suitable for Leica-style photography than the M9, especially in capturing the moment.
Black and white has always been a class Leica rangefinder forte, and here too I’ll posit a similar idea: the Sony NEX-7 is a class leading camera that is outstanding for black and white. And better at the job (with a manual focus lens). I can focus faster, frame accurately, hold the camera various ways, and change ISO and push images that would never be possible with film. And the Sony NEX-7 noise (film grain) is very pleasing.
My Sony NEX-7 review is growing (I’m rather excited about it which is rare for me with a compact camera), and Part 1 will be published within a day or two.
The image below was shot at ISO 100, but pushed 2.25 stops with FillLight=20, then converted to black and white.
