What’s Coming For Testing: Nikon, Leica, Canon, Zeiss

I’m planning the following in the short and medium term, in rough timeline order (as that is when this stuff is available):

  • More work on the Voigtlander 35mm f/1.2 II ASPH for Leica M (Leica Guide).
  • Leica 28mm f/2.8 Elmarit-M + 28mm f/2.0 Summicron-M (Leica Guide).
  • Zeiss ZE 25mm f/2 Distagon (in my Zeiss Guide), perhaps compared with the Canon 24mm f/1.4L II (reviewed in DAP already). Ditto for ZF.2 25/2 (when available) vs Nikon 24/1.4G, but I might wait for 36MP D800 for that.
  • Case studies in Making Sharp Images involving camera alignment.
  • Intensive work (DAP) on the new Nikon 36-megapixel D800 (assuming it’s real), and the new 16-megapixel D4 and the new 18-megapixel Canon 1D X (due in March).

Thanks to B&H Photo for several lenses, and to LensRentals.com for the Canon 24/1.4L II and Leica 28/2.0 Summicron-M.
