The Importance of Color Gamut, Especially with Bright Red, Fuji X100 Example
Just added to my review of the Fuji X100 in DAP is a new page showing that the X100 offers a very wide gamut into the reds, and how both sRGB and AdobeRGB kill the reds and kill tonal differentiation and resolution in the process.
This example is from the X100, but the same color gamut concerns apply to all good modern DSLRs.
To view the images properly, use a modern web browser that can display color properly, such as Apple Safari, or a current version Firefox. If this image looks desaturated and flat, you’re using a defective web browser, probably IE or Opera.

I have just visited the optician for my 2 yearly check up and was offered a replacement specs for about £300. In the UK our Opticians are under pressure to sell specs at lower prices, driven by the competition from SpecSavers and Vision Express. It is also possible to buy specs in our supermarkets for about £10. It has occurred to me that I am prepared t spend £1500 for a top quality Zeiss lens, but I am not prepared to spend to get top quality specs. I must be mad!
I have ordered Zeiss lenses for my specs cost about £100 more.
I view my images on a Sony Vaio laptop, and I have just seen the difference when I view the images on a HD monitor. I have ordered an HD monitor!
