Update On New Zeiss 35/1.4 Distagon
Zeiss USA finally received press samples yesterday of the new 35mm f/1.4 Distagon. For various reasons, it will take Zeiss a few days to ship one to me, so I expect to have it next week for testing, the ZE version for Canon EOS (EOS mount seems to have priority now, due to the large numbers of lenses being sold for video work with the Canon 5D Mark II).
The Nikon ZF.2 version will appear in April or so.
The Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 Distagon looked to be a highly corrected lens when I shot the prototype back in September 2010. But it has a tough competitor in the Nikon 35mm f/1.4G, so I also eagerly anticipate the Nikon ZF.2 version.
Naturally, I'll be comparing the Zeiss 35/1.4 Distagon to the Canon 35mm f/1.4L and Zeiss 35mm f/2 Distagon.
My Zeiss Guide already has some bokeh examples for the Zeiss 35/1.4 Distagon, and see my September blog entries.
